Ohio EPA Reaches Out to Economic Development Community

Ohio EPA Northwest District Chief Shannon Nabors spoke at the July NORED meeting about her agency's efforts to work more effectively with economic development practitioners. Key to success is working with the EPA as soon as possible on a project. She finds that there are a few areas most overlooked when it comes to complying with EPA regulations. Those areas include the need for drinking water permits and projects involving wetlands.

The Ohio EPA offers a free and confidential service to help businesses come into compliance and obtain permits. The Office of Compliance Assistance and Pollution Prevention administers this program, which is non-regulatory. The toll free hotline for the program is (800) 329-7518. Shannon Nabors can be reached at (419) 352-8461.
